Notts went behind within the first 5 minutes, when a cross from the left fell to the feet of Shane Bradley, who fired a low shot past Mildenhall for the opener.

Notts were denied a quick leveller after good play by Paul Heffernan, who looked dangerous all afternoon. He laid the ball to Tony Hackworth, who's stinging drive was well saved by Mike Bingham.

Notts created very little after that, but not long after Notts netted a break away goal. The lively Heffernan forced another good save from Bingham, but the ball feel to Richard Liburd who from 12 yards hammered the ball into the roof of the net.

Mansfield got a penalty soon after, when Ian Richardson challenged Christie in the area. The Mansfield forward took the penalty himself, but Mildenhall made a excellent save going to his left.

The 2nd half was rather scrappy with both sides not really creating alot. Christie had a shot tipped over the bar for the Stags, and Hackworth and Heffernan went close for Notts.
