Reserves are no more

In rather sad, yet not totally surprising news, the club have announced in a statement that, while the club will not be officially entered in a league, friendlies' will be arranged where neccesary.

The news follows the example of many lower league clubs, including local rivals Mansfield Town, but will come as a blow to the handful of fans who regularly watch the County second-string, not to mention the Youth Team players whose job of getting into the first team will now be that bit harder.

The games have become frequently demeaned though in recent years, with the Notts squad at such a size that most of the team is made up of trialists and teenagers.

This season, the reserves' form has mirrored that of their senior counterparts, with Notts currently lying second bottom in their respective division - which includes sides such as York City and Halifax Town.
