Ready, Eddie?

With squad resources stretched, and the side beginning to settle back in to the 4-4-2 mould, times seem hard. With Rob Ullathorne, the only senior left-back at the club at present, facing a one-match ban in the near future, Ian Richardson has called on a member of the clubs squad players for resolve.

Enter stage right, Eddie McIntyre.

Eddie WHO!?
The 19-year old left-sided youngster, a long admired member of the club’s reserve and youth set-ups, could well be thrown into the mix for the forthcoming match against Southend in the absence of the former La Liga man, Rob Ullathorne.

Richardson told the Nottingham Evening Post, "We do not have another recognised left back at the club, so if we want to persist with the 4-4-2 formation, Eddie is going to have to come in and do a job."

"Eddie's left foot is as good as anyone's at the club, including Stef Oakes,"

With players such as Kelvin Wilson and Emmet Friars already having emerged from the youth set-up this season, it seems very much as though the time is right for Richardson to throw his first debutant into the mix in the form of the Derry-born left-back.

"He [McIntyre] is a player that does have potential, but he needs to start showing it now. I will be having a word with him, because there could be a chance there for him to take, with Rob set to be suspended."

"People have been talking about him being one for the future for a while, hopefully now he can prove he is ready to take that step on."
