The Robins will be looking for a good start infront of their home fans, and make up for last season's playoff heartbreak, when they lost to Cardiff in the semi-finals.
"The importance of the game is not who we are playing but that we have got a game at all." The former Bradford City Chariman told the Evening Post.
"It's the start of a new era and the club has a future.
"Playing Bristol City is a great start to the season and it is up to all of us to move on from there." Added Richmond.
