Probert, sadly, passes away

Sirrel: A very proud buyer
Probert, a less-than refined midfielder complete with an exceptional work-rate, was a member of Jimmy Sirrel’s near-legendary squad set-ups between 1973 and ’76 where he made 139 appearances, becoming an integral part of Sirrel era in it’s heyday. He also managed 13 goals in his time with the Magpies.

Sirrel signed the scraggly haired midfielder from Burnley at an absolute steal at just £30,000, playing a shade under 140 games for the Magpies, before his sale to Darlington three years later.

A fine team player, Probert encountered a bout of ill health as of late and has tragically lost his life at the young age of 52.

NCM would like to offer our condolences to all those concerned.
