Possible McGold mine?

McGoldrick has clearly delighted Mills who gave the Nottingham-born youngster a run out during the behind-closed-doors friendly in mid-week against Walsall – where Mills claims the attacking orientated player shone for the Magpies.

Another product of the highly-rated Notts County youth academy, McGoldrick has impressed his coaches immensely with a number of notable performances in a youth team that once boasted the likes of Leon Best, Jermaine Pennant, Mark Draper, and the man who looks likely to return to the ‘Lane - Tommy Johnson.

In an interview with the Nottingham Evening Post, Mills had this to say: I have been hugely impressed with what I have seen of him. He is a player with a lot of potential.

I don't go along with any doubts people have about age. The fact is he is good enough to be involved, so he is old enough.

One climax of McGoldrick’s time with the under-19 set-up includes a magnificent solo goal in the FA Youth Cup against Cardiff City.
