Posh eye front seat

In the aftermath of an eventful Easter schedule, it is the final stretch of the season ahead for the League Two sides.

It looks as if the fight at the top is shaping up to be a more intersting battle than those scraping at the bottom end with Mansfield and Wrexham becoming increasingly isolated to the drop out of the Football League.

A seven point gap has opened up between the bottom two and the scurrying pack ahead.

It is not over yet though and perhaps it will just make the final outocme even more dramatic than anticipated.

While at the head of the table, the MK Dons and Posh are still at each others toes for the Championship.

And with Hereford's recent blip of form, the final automatic promotion slot could still be up for grabs with Darlington, Wycombe and an ever impressive Stockport all remaining in the hunt.

The play-offs are as wide open as expected with teams even as low down as Bradford in 13th still harbouring realistic hopes.

Game of the day: Peterborough United v Lincoln City

With MK Dons out of action this weekend, Posh are presented with a fine opportunity to stamp their claim on the title.

United entertain local rivals Lincoln in a tie which has a bit of history in recent years.

Frecklington...Loyal to Imps
The acrimonious departure of Keith Alexander from the Imps to Posh is still a feud which plays on amongst the fans. Alexander left City after guiding them to four consecutive play-offs but was sacked early in his first season in charge at Peterborough.

While current London Road chief Darren Ferguson stirred up the plot in attempt to lure City kingpin Lee Frecklington to the high-flyers earlier this campaign.

The young gun point blank refused a move to Posh leaving Fergy to question his ambition, in the local media. It leaves the Imps with a point to prove.

City may have little to play for stuck in the League Two wilderness of mid-table but the chance to put a dent in United's title hopes will spur on the fans
Onuora...Biggest test so far
at least.

Iffy Onuora has endured a mixed start to life as acting manager at Sincil Bank.

A 4-1 drubbing at Chesterfield paired with last week's 5-2 loss at Barnet will have Peter Jackson fuming, while wins at Notts County and at home to third-placed Hereford have proved his credentials entirely.

A trip to London Road is another chance for him to impress the fans.

Posh are in top form without suffering defeat in the league for 15 games but it does not tell the whole story. United have had some difficulty scoring at home in recent weeks with only three goals in their last five outings on their own soil.

This could prove an intriguing clash. With Imps midfield hard man Scott Kerr missing through suspension, Posh will be hoping to impose their control on the central battle.

In a huge game at the bottom of the table it is derby day at Meadow Lane as the Magpies take on relegation threatened Mansfield Town.

Scott...Still wants play-offs
Ian McParland's men are seven points ahead of trouble and if they avoid defeat in this one, confidence of survival should be high.

Brentford boss Andy Scott has issued a rallying call to his side to strive for the play-offs.

The Bees host rivals Rochdale at the weekend hoping to cut down the five point gap they are from the top seven.

And finally, Stockport will want to step up their pursuit of automatic promotion following the arrival of Wolves midfielder Stephen Gleeson.

The Hatters are away at Chester bidding to make it nine consecutive wins on the trot away from Edgeley Park.
