Bury's Andy Bishop

In terms of important goals, Andy Bishop's late strike against fellow strugglers Boston United could be the most important of this man's career.

Many League Two followers may have backed Bury to be relegated from the Football League, on a barren run of sixteen games without a win.

But Andy Bishop's goal was enough to claim the Shaker's a 1-0 win at

Bishop...Massive goal for Bury
York Street and lift some of the gloom from Gigg Lane in a run that has seen them fail to win in 2007 until Saturday.

The goal may not only mark the start of Bury's League Two survival but was also a well overdue goal for the front man, as he netted his first league goal in ten games. The cross from ex-Notts man Glynn Hurst was met perfectly by Bishop whose neat finish proved the winner for the travelling Shaker's.

Bishop, 24, joined Bury in the summer after scoring an impressive 23 league goals in the Conference for York City last season.

With 13 Shaker's goals to his name already, Bishop has proved a shrewd acquisition form boss Chris Casper who brought the forward in on a free transfer just under a year ago.

The striker began his career at Blackburn Rovers before enjoying loan spells at Kidderminster, Rochdale and Yeovil from Walsall, who he unfortunately never played a game for.

Another three of four goals this term from the attacker could prove just the tonic for Bury to beat the dreaded drop from Football League this year.

Maybe not his best display in a Bury shirt, but certainly a goal that Bury fans may remember for sometime.

Bury are now 19th in the table with 42 points, perhaps just two or three wins away from guaranteeing their safety.
