Pipey to sit out ‘Boro clash?

The Welsh under-21 captain, who picked up the injury following a straight-red carded offence from Rochdale’s Ernie Cooksey yesterday, is said by manager Ian Richardson to be on crutches after injuring his ankle in yesterday’s 0-0 draw, and is said to be nursing an inflamed and swollen ankle.

Pipe: Set to miss out?
Pipe was replaced by Tony Scully at half time yesterday as a result of the challenge and is now, according to his manager, a doubt for the money spinning third round clash on Saturday.

The 21-year old – currently being utilised as a right-winger – will possibly join Julian Baudet (suspended) in the stands for the visit of the current Carling Cup holders, whilst fellow defender Rob Ullathorne will also serve a one-match ban in the near future, although later than Saturday’s FA Cup tie.

The defender shortage has prompted Richardson – still three to four weeks away from full fitness, himself – to begin the search for short term additions to the squad.

Speaking briefly to the Nottingham Evening Post today, Richardson said: "We do have a player we would like to bring in who we believe would be allowed to play in the cup.

"Hopefully something can be sorted out."
