NCM understand that the popular Welshman is wanted by Paul Trollope and Lennie Lawrence to bolster their right hand side as they attempt to consolidate a League One place.

Rumours surfaced earlier in the summer after Pipe's form dropped and Wycombe Wanderers had already failed with an alleged £100,000 bid in January.

Now NCM's source has said a bid will be lodged over the coming weeks to take Pipe to Whaddon Road - Cheltenham Town's home that the Pirates will share next term.

It is not known whether the fans favourite would take the move - although he was happy to hear of Wycombe's interest - but Notts fans are sure to be upset at the possible transfer.

The highly rated 24-year-old full-back or winger is Notts' current longest-serving player having joined, initially on loan, under Gary Mills in January 2004.

His determination, pace and commitment have endeared him to fans as he walked away with the 2005/06 player of the season trophy.

In all he has made 148 Notts appearances, scoring four times.

Should he move Notts boss Steve Thompson will want at least £100,000 with the former Coventry City ace out of contract next summer.

Rovers have already shown they are keen to splash the cash with a £150,000 bid for Hereford United striker Andy Williams which was excepted before the striker turned them down.
