David Pipe has been selected by the Wales under-21 side to represent his country in the forthcoming European Championship qualifiers in Merthyr Tydfil (25th March) and Neuseidl Am See(29th March).

Pipey: Welsh dragon
The call-up means that the Welshman – who also boasts a single full-cap to his achievements – will miss out on County’s forthcoming games against Bristol Rovers and Yeovil Town, both high-flying opposition who Notts would habitually play a stronger line-up.

Instead, however, the Magpies must now do without the services of Pipe, signed by former boss Gary Mills last year after an impressive loan move, who has been a virtual ever-present amongst the side throughout the campaign.

21-year old Pipe, who is expected to captain the side, joins Irishman Saul Deeney, who – as well as picking up a three-match ban – will miss the ‘Rovers match due to international call-ups.

Shane McFaul, also Irish, is a possibility for a late call-up to the under-21 squad after impressing in first team action. If so, McFaul would join Deeney and former Notts loanee, Wayne Henderson in the squad for the Irish.
