Pipe claims top award

The annual awards night saw the Supporters Club hand out seven awards across the board, with 22-year old Pipe claiming the pick of the honours, being named the ‘Player of the Season'.

Pipe: The big winner
Over the course of the season, Pipe had been one of precious few success stories during the Magpies' fast fading revival plan, with his form continuing to soar whilst those around him has dwindled. And, in a hectic week for the Welshmen, the player now has the supporters' highest accolade as well as a new two-year contract to show for his endeavours.

Captain Julien Baudet and Mike Edwards followed Pipe in second and third place, respectively.

Pipe, a near ever-present throughout the season, was joined on the honours list by veteran ‘keeper Kevin Pilkington, who scooped the Player's Player of the Season award.

Pilkington, who signed from local rivals Mansfield Town last summer, has been another stand-out player throughout the season, as reflected in the ever-dependable goalkeeper's reward on the night.

In the Magpies' youth set-up, 16-year old Stef Frost capped off an amazing week for the young winger, as the schoolboy collected both the Young Player and Youth Player's Player of the Season awards, whilst his team-mates Bobby Wilson and Rob Austin picked up the Youth Player of the Season and Most Improved Player prizes, respectively.

Tommy Hannigan scooped the final playing award in claiming the Reserve Team Player of the Season, whilst Tony Cuthbert was honoured with a special ‘Merit Award' for outstanding contributions to the club over the last eight years.

NCM would, naturally, like to congratulate all the winners in a season of, admittedly, fewer positives than the club and their supporters would have first hoped.
