Slim Pickens: Notts had no right-backs to choose from.
Former Manchester United trainee, Phil Picken has today been snapped up on a one-month loan deal from Chesterfield.

The 23-year-old was brought in to fill the right-back slot previously occupied by Derby County duo Jason Beardsley and Mitchell Hanson, who have re-joined The Rams.

Picken has been a regular in the Spireites line-up over the last month, meaning that the move has come as a bit of a shock.

He has already made over 100 appearances for them since joining them in the summer of 2005 from the Premiership title holders.

Ian McParland expressed how pleased he was after capturing the defender.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "Bringing in a right-back was essential, and I'm delighted we've been able to acquire Phil in for a month.

"He's a tough character who I've seen on a number of occasions over the past few years, and he's a welcome addition to our squad."

Picken is expected to go straight into the starting line-up for Saturday's League Two tie with Exeter City.
