Pavis takeover bid rebuked

Pavis was at the helm of the Magpies for 14 years, before selling the club to American Albert Scardino in 2001.

However, after remaining at the club in the role of 'Life President' since selling the club, the Nottinghamshire-based business-man is keen to regain his spot at the helm of the Meadow Lane club.

Pavis' initial bid, though, has been turned-down by Haydn Green, the man whose injection of £3.2million saved the Magpies from liquidation in 2003.

Despite money being extremely tight at the 'Lane - and attendances, worryingly, falling well below the expected figure - Green is believed to have turned the bid down due to it relying on loans and back-payments in order for it to be successful.

Pavis is a figure who provokes strong reaction amongst the Magpies support, and it is believed that he will continue in his attempts to buy back the club.

Whether the bid is succesful or not, it is certain that the Supporters Trust will remain on the board in some capacity.
