As revealed on the club's Official Website earlier today, Parkinson, who has made 14 appearences during his two stints at the club, has been deemed surplus to requirements by Blades boss Warnock who looks to re-build his side in the hope of, finally, getting them into the Premiership.

The Liverpool-born winger originally arrived at Meadow Lane back in January for a month’s loan, before re-joining the club for a second stint until the end of the season towards the end of March.

Could Parkinson be heading back to Meadow Lane?
The former Tranmere player impressed at Meadow Lane,
making the perfect start by scoring on his debut in the away fixture against Wrexham in January, where the Magpies won 1-0.

He went on to continue his impressive form and scored two more goals in his original loan spell against Barnsley and QPR, but failed to live up to expectations during his second loan spell at t’Lane.

The 24-year-old, who partnered striker Matty Williams upfront in the final two games of the season, looks set to have a number of clubs interested in his availability but whether he will return to Meadow Lane on a permanent basis remains unclear and is obviously a decision manager Gary Mills will have to make, amongst many others over the summer months.

"With the squad being small I have to try to wheel and deal in the transfer market and there are areas I want to improve before the start of the season. The only way I can this by sacrificing players currently in the squad," Neil Warnock told Sheffield United’s Official Website - www.sufc.co.uk
