Our Biggest Yet

Thompson, the Supporters’ Trust representative on the Notts board, has insisted that "the fans have a key role to play" prior to the visit of Roy McFarland’s Chesterfield side - a game that the club strongly expect a large crowd to attend after warning fans to turn up early to ensure a seat.

His rallying of the troops follows what was the biggest home crowd of the season against Plymouth which he believe gave the players that added boost to push the league-leaders to the wire and force a stale-mate. Thompson also strongly believes that a similar response could help provide three-points this Saturday in the crucial relegation six-pointer.

Fans can play their part
In an interview with the Nottingham Evening Post, Thompson insisted: "It could be the match that decides our Division Two future."

It really is that big. It is as big as any game we have had in the last few years.

If we win, we will be right back in there and we will have a great chance of avoiding the drop.

If we don't get the right result, the gap will only open up further.

I am sure that every other team around us won't win on Saturday, but it would still leave us with more work to do.

And the fans can make a big difference.

All I would ask is that every Notts fan out there makes an effort to come and give their support on Saturday.

Notts had their biggest crowd of the season for the visit of Plymouth, in their last home game.

The fans can make a difference,’ he said. "When you look back at the Plymouth game, we had a big crowd for that and it gave everyone a lift.’

"I am not talking about the financial side of things, although that obviously helps.’

"I am talking about the fact that you can see it gives the team a lift, it gives the players a buzz - and it motivates them on the pitch.’

It is a massive match and the fans can play their part. Hopefully they will turn out in numbers.’

You heard the man, get down the 'Lane on Saturday and help the Magpies preserve their Second Division status!
