Opposition's View - Port Vale

Last updated : 25 September 2009 By Jacob Daniel
1. It's been a fairly average start to the league season for Vale. You happy so far?

Yes, it's steady progress and the performances have been a million miles from last season, we have only lost two games and we have become more enjoyable to watch, if we could just turn some of the draws into wins we will be top ten! We have been solid at the back and generally creating chances in games which is something we could only dream about last season!

2. Micky Adams was the choice for your new manager, despite a few dodgy jobs recently. Has he impressed the Vale faithful?

Yes. Since leaving Leicester he was at Coventry where he was forced to sell players and still got them to their highest position since they came down from the top flight and so other than Brighton he hasn't done too badly. After Glover, Sinnott and Foyle we have finally got an experienced manager and he had impressed us with his tactics and the way he has set up the team to get the best from it, something past managers have failed on.

3. Who would you say we should be looking out for on Saturday?

The two Taylors (Rob and Kris), they will occupy the left although Rob may be benched and used as an impact sub! Rob is like a whippet with the ability to beat men and has hit the net 3 times this season. Kris is possibly familiar to County fans from his time at Hereford a good left back/winger with a good cross on him and arguably our signing of the summer. Haldane may play ahead of Rob Taylor he is very pacey with strength too. He claimed when he signed "he likes to win penalties" which he did within a minute of coming on for his debut so beware he may go down a little bit easily!

4. You had a bit of a Carling Cup run before going out to Scunthorpe. Has it been affecting your league form?

No not really the place was buzzing through the run and we followed both the 1st and 2nd round victories with solid away performances and a draw in both so maybe this trend will continue Saturday. It's just a shame after all the run we didnt get a glam tie!

5. Anyone you particularly fear on the Notts side?

Rodgers is ex Vale so bound to score if he can stay onside! Hawley is someone I rate since his time at Carlisle, it's a good side you have down there so we have to approach it the way we did the Carling Cup ties.

6. Do you think Campbell leaving will prove to be a good or bad thing for the Magpies?

Well its been embarrassing in the end but most Vale fans view was that he would be a weak spot against the pace of Taylor and Haldane with his age and fitness. I think it would be better for County not to have him, would he have the motivation on a January Tuesday night away at Accrington? I'm convinced a young lad wanting to make a career would give far more. I think if Notts County want an example of how to do it look to Peterborough.. You can buy all the big names once in the Championship and get more from it.

7. Finally, what's your prediction for the match?

1-1 I dont think we will win but If we are up for it and with a decent following behind them our lads will see this as a chance to show we can compete with the top sides in the division.
