Whitley returns to newly promoted Premiership outfit Manchester City after making six appearances for the Magpies.

Richardson has been at Meadow Lane since January and proved vital in the clubs fight for survival after successfully adopting the role of right-back for Bill Dearden’s side.

The Bolton Wanderers man is still in talks with his club to finalise a new contract with Richardson’s current one due to expire this summer, but Richardson wouldn’t rule out a return to Meadow Lane before his departure.

" I'd never say never to anything," said Richardson. “You want to play at the top for as long as you can and if Bolton do come up with a contract that is right for both myself and Bolton, then I'll obviously stay there.

"There have been sniffs from other clubs as well, but there is no reason why I'd say no to being in a Notts shirt, you never know."
