On a knife Edge

Last updated : 04 April 2008 By Gary Moss
This weekend sees the start of April in League Two, the final full month in the campaign.

It is do or die time - no more what will happen in the future to survive or make the play-offs. It is time for action and it is none more apparent than for Notts as they aim to complete their survival plan.

Some teams can count on one hand the games left of this campaign. The ruthless approach may just pay off.

The season sits on a knife edge

Game of the day: Stockport County v Darlington
Penney...Pressure time

The Quakers will really be feeling the pressure of their string of four games without a win as they bid to claim an automatic third promotion spot in the league.

That pressure will be all the more intense as they travel to one of their fiercest rivals Stockport on Saturday.

The Hatters are five points adrift of Darlo but with two games in hand over Dave Penney's outfit.

Edgeley Park has hosted some exciting enconters over the course of the season as the fourth highest stadium for goals in the division with the ball hitting the net 60 times in its 19 games.

That is just three behind leading goal ground London Road, despite their having been two more games at Posh's home.

This promises to be another game of goals as promotion hangs in the balance.
Dikcinson...Hatters' goal threat

The onus will be on Hatters striker Liam Dickinson to provide goals for County since the departure of Anthony Elding to League One outfit Leeds.

Darlo's Steve Foster will have to be at his best to tame the forward renowned for being a handful. He has been instrumental in seeing the Quakers as the second meanest defence in the division.

A commanding away display will be vital to Darlo snatching three points.

The Hatters in free flow will take some stopping on a run of seven games without defeat.

Little...Start to great escape?

Brian Little said in midweek his Wrexham team face a huge task to beat the drop after losing at Field Mill.

Tuesday's game was labelled a must-win game, and tomorrow's clash with Macclesfield is now a must-must-win game.

I can see no way back for the Welshmen if they fail to collect maximum points at the Racecourse aginst the Silkmen.

The Dragons may already be doomed but if they are to perform a 'great escape' this has to be the beginning of it.

Dagenham and Redbridge are not yet out of the frame for relegation and their Friday night trip to Accrington is a fine chance to boost their hopes.

Stanley have won only two of their last ten at the Fraser Eagle and the Daggers will be wanting to deepen that bad form.

The MK Dons could set an away form record in recent times with a win at
Ince....Eyes record
Lincoln on Friday night.

Victory would be their 16th away from stadium:mk this season breaking Luton's record of 15 away wins in the 2001/02 season and champions Notts of 1997/98 too.

How Posh get on, may mean more to Paul Ince's side though as they face a difficult trip to Wycombe.

The Chairboys have still not sealed up their play-off spot but will be hoping to take another step towards doing so by stretching their unbeaten home run to five games.
