Oakes Completes Deal

You heard it here first, folks! As revealed by NCM on Sunday Oakes signed for the club on an 18-month contract yesterday, as the Official Site revealed earleir today, catching up with our original story.

He is contracted with Notts until June 2005 and this brings the number of contracted players for next season to seven (enough to legally play a game).

Oakes’s move is a free transfer deal though
Walsall and Notts have agreed a sell-on clause should the player move in the future while still under contract at Notts.
Oakes: Former Leicester City man joins Notts

25-year-old Oakes had, until last week, been at Walsall after moving from Leicester City at the end of last season.

However he only made 5 appearances for the West Midlands club. And in the final match, his first start for Colin Lee's men, he was sent off for a two-footed tackle.

Oakes has now served his suspension for his red card and will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s game against
Stockport at Meadow Lane and will be handed the vacant number 4 shirt.

The left footed midfielder, who is a specialist at set-pieces, is thought to be the club's replacement for Darren Caskey- who is expected to depart this summer.

A 'Who r Ya' on Stefan Oakes will be on the site shortly, where we shall take a closer look at our new boy.
