N'Toya makes it EIGHT

Following the signing of Andy Parkinson, Steve Thompson would have some act to follow in terms of ‘topping' that coup. Thompson, however, has, if nothing else, managed to match the signing of Parkinson in managing to snap-up a man previously trailed by a number of Championship clubs, Tcham N'Toya.

N'Toya: Third of four proposed frontmen
Congo-born N'Toya, 22, was brought into the English game by Roy McFarland having impressed in an original one-month loan spell from French side Troyes, with Chesterfield snapping-up the 5”10 striker on a two-year deal.

After an impressive first full season at Saltergate, N'Toya would be pursued by a number of clubs, with his pace and flamboyance proving a real hit during his time with the Spireites, where he would eventually go onto make 22 league starts with Chesterfield, bagging eight goals.

Subsequent loan spells with York City and, only last season, Oxford United followed prior to his release in the summer, which would, ultimately, lead to the recently-appointed Notts boss making a swoop for the player.

N'Toya's signing comes on the day of the League Two fixtures for the forthcoming 2006/07 season being announced, with the Magpies being a trip to Sincil Bank to face Lincoln City on the opening day of the season.

Other fixtures of note are that of the derby with Mansfield Town at Field Mill on October 7th, with the return-fixture falling on March 10.

The league fixtures, of course, follow yesterday's Carling Cup First Round draw which threw-up an away trip to Crystal Palace.
