Notts County continued their pre-season campaign with a promising 3-0 victory over SV Austria Salzburg this evening. Despite failing to break down the Austrian 4th division side in the first half, three strikes in the second meant Notts leave Salzburg with a comfortable victory from their final pre-season match of the trip to Austria. The squad will now face another two days of training before heading back to the UK to step up the preparations for the new season even more.

Trialist Alex Hauser lined up alongside the returning Delroy Facey in the first half, but while Mike Edwards partnered Graeme Lee in central defence and Russell Hoult started in goal, but in the first 45 minutes the Magpies failed to break down their hosts and went into the half-time break level.

Notts First Half - Hoult, Moloney, Lee, Edwards, Clapham, Fairclough, Davies, Bishop, Hauser, Westcarr, Facey

The second half was a different story however, as Notts, seemingly lining up in a new 4-5-1 formation, struck three past SV. Matt Hamshaw, one of the players to come on at half-time, struck the first goal after 59 minutes as he looks to continue his promising form from last season. Notts continued to plug away until impressive trialist Luke Rodgers struck twice in the last ten minutes to make his goal tally 4 in 2 games from the Magpies' pre-season tour, which could convince Ian McParland to offer the former Yeovil and Port Vale man a deal.

Notts now face four more pre-season games, against Arnold Town, Nottingham Forest, Derby County and a Liverpool XI.
