Notts want six-figure Weston fee

Notts County have today said that they hope to receive a six-figure fee for winger Myles Weston, when the price of his move to Brentford is set by a tribunal. The 21 year-old opted to join the Bees last week, in favour of a new 3-year deal at Meadow Lane, but as he is under 24 the Magpies are entitled to a fee which will now be set by tribunal, after the club rejected an attempted settlement by Brentford.

The panel setting the fee will look at a number of different factors, including the deal on the table for Weston at Meadow Lane, the effort and cost put into his development by the club and the current ability and future potential of the player. All of this could work favourably for the Magpies, with Weston reportedly having a substantial deal on the table at Meadow Lane, while the club rescued the player from the scrapheap and solved a number of injury problems, and he leaves with an undoubted improvement. Or, as he says, he is a winger with "pace and a good cross"(!), which surely means he is an excellent winger for this level?

Although the six-figure fee that John Armstrong-Holmes hopes for is unlikely, the money will come in handy at Meadow Lane, and the future clauses that are often put onto deals for young players at tribunal could be a nice little earner for the club in the future, should Weston continue to realise his potential at Griffin Park.

NCM will have the latest Notts new first...
