Notts to visit Austria again

Last updated : 18 June 2009 By Jacob Daniel
For the second season in a row, Notts County will spend a week of their pre-season at the National Sports & Recreation Centre in Obertraun, Austria. Ian McParland praised the facilities on offer and the bonding opportunity that it afforded his squad last season, and once again he will take his squad out there for a week in July.

The squad will jet out to Austria on July 11th, before returning a week later, and will be playing two friendly matches while on Austrian soil. Dates and opposition for the matches are yet to be confirmed, but NCM will have news of these as soon as they are announced.

Notts are not the only British team to favour the Austrian surroundings for pre-season, with Birmingham City, Swindon Town, Stoke City, Aberdeen and Crewe Alexandra all expecting to take their squads for training camps in the country during July.

Manager Ian McParland told nottscountyfc.co.uk:-

"The facilities are first class and the lads will be doing plenty of hard work in while we're out there, it is not a holiday for them by any means.

"It is an opportunity for them to get to know each other before the season starts, which is very important, and it also breaks up the pre-season for us."

NCM will be following the Magpies on their pre-season exploits, so keep tuned for the latest news!
