Notts to sign Toner

Ciaran Toner will join Notts County in the summer from Grimsby Town, NCM can reveal.

After it was picked up on messageboards across the Midlands, NCM did further investigation and can confirm this "rumour" to be true.
Toner... Meadow Lane bound

Toner is out of contract in the summer at Town and has been managed by Thompson several times during his career.

Toner, 26, started his career at Tottenham but failed to make an appearance despite a promising start to International football with the Nothern Ireland under-21 side.

Spells at Peterborough, Leyton Orient, Cambridge United and Lincoln City have followed, before he finally settled at Blundell Park.

There, he was integral as the Mariners surged to the Playoff Final last season, appearing 33 times, scoring three goals from midfield.

The central attack minded player has hit eight though this season, as Alan Buckley's arrival transformed the team - and him - giving him a prominant role behind the strikers. He has made 26 appearances this campaign.

Thompson has been quoted as saying he will definitely be here, though the exact quote isn't known... NCM are of the belief that Ciaran Toner will definitely be a Magpie next season.
