Notts take Bowditch on trial

Notts County have today confirmed that they have given former Ipswich Town striker Dean Bowditch the chance to spend a week training with the club in a bid to win a contract at Meadow Lane. Bowditch, who ended last season on loan at League Two champions Brentford, came through the ranks at Portman Road and was tipped for a bright future in the game, but he has lost his way and found himself constantly loaned out to League One and League Two before Roy Keane opted to let him go at the end of last season.

The 23 year-old burst onto the scene at 17 by becoming Ipswich's youngest ever hat trick scorer when he struck three past Watford in the Championship. He went on to score 8 goals in 72 appearances for Ipswich, but most of these were from the bench. He has gone on to spend loan spells at Burnely, Wycombe Wanderers, Brighton, Northampton and Brentford, but has yet to really settle as a club and begin to have the potential that he showed as a youngster.

He joins Bangor City forward Chris Sharp and former Everton man John Irving on trial at the club this week.
