Notts sign former Cambridge man

Tann has spent the week training with the Magpies and has penned non-contract terms today, allowing him to play in the weekend's FA Cup tie.

Though the defender has been signed primarilly to cover for Notts' vastly-depleted defensive ranks, the 23-year-old could net more permanent terms at Meadow Lane, should he impress.

The former England under-18 international's only senior appearences have come for Cambridge, though he has made one appearence for Gravesend & Northfleet this season after parting company with the club he had previously joined as a trainee in the summer.

"We are very glad to have sorted this situation out with Adam," assistant boss Ross McLaren told the official website today.

"He has done very well this week and there is hopefully every chance we can make it a permanent arrangement."

Tann is expected to go straight into the Notts line-up for Saturday's clash against the League One side. The Magpies have been left short of defenders for the weekend, with Kelvin Wilson suspended after picking up five bookings and Emmet Friars cup-tied following his earlier loan spell at AFC Telford.

The tall defender made 148 appearences for the U's before opting for pastures new in the summer.

After wrangles over compensation left him in limbo for much of the past few months, Tann is now keen to re-build his stuttering career at Meadow Lane.
