Notts seal Moloney loan

Notts County have today made their second signing in as many days, by snapping up Nottingham Forest full back Brendan Moloney on a sixth month loan deal. The Republic of Ireland Under 21 international is highly rated at the City Ground, and spent successful loan spells at Chesterfield and Rushden & Diamonds two seasons ago, as well as making 12 appereances for the Reds last season, but he has fallen out of favour with manager Billy  Davies who has opted to allow him to leave the club on loan.

Moloney becomes the Magpies' fifth summer signing, although more are expected in the near future, including another central defender according to manager Ian McParland, despite the club adding Bradford City's Graeme Lee to their squad yesterday on a free transfer. Meanwhile, the squad will report for their first pre-season training session this morning, as the preparation for the new campaign really begins to get underway for the Magpies.

Manager Ian McParland told nottscountyfc.co.uk of his new recruit:-

"Brendan's a very promising young player and he has been a target of mine for some time. In fact, I tried to get him in last season but we couldn't finalise a deal.

It is nice to have finally landed him and I believe we have a player on our hands who is more than capable of performing at this level."
