Notts Player Ratings v Hereford

Last updated : 27 December 2006 By Gary Moss

Saul Deeney. Keeper had little to do but when called upon was out of position was caught out of position for the goal that decided the game. A clear indication of why he is still a long way from becoming Magpie's number one stopper. 5

Gary Silk.
A decent display by Silky. He kept his position well and done little wrong. You cannot ask much more from a full back in League Two. 7

Alan White (C).
Another fine display from the skipper. The Centre back won his headers well and showed his tough side with his feisty commitment. 7

Michael Edwards.
Paired well with White. Edwards battled hard and won numerous key tackles. He played well in tandem with White to assure Notts at the back. 7

McCann..Weak link in Magpie's defence this week

Austin McCann.
An awful display from the Magpie's left-back. He conceded possession on numerous occasions in dangerous areas. The full-back was also in question for the mix-up that led to Hereford's winning goal. On last night's display Austin may want to take a leaf or two out of Silk's book, on how to keep things simple at full-back. 4

David Pipe.
Pipey failed to really get involved. Usually at the centre of all County's creation, Pipe looked quiet and out of place. Missed a good chance in the first half. Perhaps still not fully fit. More is needed from the winger if Notts are to reach their full potential. 6

Ian Ross.
As usual Ross saw lots of the ball and was always looking to get involved. The middle man will need to work on his shooting to become more influential for the Magpie's. 6

Jay Smith.
The loan player always looked busy. He added a few nice touches to the midfield but is still lacking a final ball to make him worthy of a regular place in the side. 6

Daryl McMahon.
Failed to get a single right all night. Yet to have an impact at the club. Fans will be beginning to question his place in Thommo's side. Lacks instinct in his play. His rating more so for him turning up. 4

Junior Mendes.
Mendes showed a couple of good flicks but lacks exactly what a striker needs. He can't seem to find the net. Frustrating to watch. 6

Lawrie Dudfield.
Man-of-match last night at Meadow Lane. Held the ball up well, worked hard and was at the heart of all of Notts' bets moves. Was unlucky to have his goal ruled out. 8

Key Substitute:

Andy Parkinson (for
Daryl Mcmahon, 55) Parky looked lively but provided little extra which you look for a substitute to do. He also missed a good chance, hitting the ball over the bar from inside the box.
