Pipe, 20, has flourished since Mills brought him to the ‘Lane as his first signing, has shown willing to sign for the club permanently, although for now his loan deal could be extended further to April after helping the Magpies climb out of the bottom-four this week for just the second time this season.

The Coventry defender told the Nottingham Evening Post that he would be interested in making the move permanent, although a lot depends on whether or not his team-mates can avoid the drop.

I have no problem at all with staying here on loan for as long as is possible," said Welsh international Pipe, who had only been on the fringes of the first-team squad at Highfield Road this season.

And I am enjoying my time at Notts and would rather be here playing first-team football than back at Coventry not getting a game.

Pipe, 20, has followed Paul Boertien’s lead in wanting in to the club after the Derby man returned to Pride Park last month.
