Notts make Jack Lester bid

Notts County have today confirmed that they have made an undisclosed offer for Chesterfield forward Jack Lester, despite the 33 year-old penning a new contract at Saltergate just last month.

Jack LesterThe former Nottingham Forest forward, who scored 20 goals for the Spireites last season, signed a new two-year deal at Chesterfield last month and said he intends to end his career at Saltergate. However, Lester lives within walking distance of the Magpies' new training ground and has worked with Ian McParland extensively in the past, which could persuade him to make the move to Meadow Lane.

Executive chairman Peter Trembling has made the move with McParland's blessing, after Munto Finance took control of the club yesterday. He has already promised "exciting signings" at Meadow Lane before the start of the season, as the club look to build a side capable of gaining promotion from League Two.
