Notts look to Sofiane

Mills, who hinted during the latter stages of last week that a loan signing was highly likely, all but confirmed rumours of his interest in the 20-year old Sofiane; outlining him as a player who could help revive County’s wavering start to the season.

The 20-year old West Ham striker – a product of Guy Roux’s remarkable youth set-up at French side, AJ Auxerre – is failing to make the grade with the Hammers, who Notts face in Carling Cup action later this month, since his arrival from the French underdogs.

With the Magpies’ injury list growing seemingly by the day, Mills is hopeful that an original one-month loan move can be finalised before the weekend’s trek to the unanticipated mid-table side, Northampton Town.

However, the frenzied pursuit for Sofiane is anything but a willing choice; with Matty Williams (concussion) and Kelvin Wilson (calf) both having been sidelined for a two-to-three week period after Saturday’s drab ‘performance’.

Gary Mills told the Nottingham Evening Post: "He is a player we have been looking at for a while"

"He was highly thought of when he first signed at Upton Park. He is quick and sharp and we think he could give us something."

"You just get on with things" he reluctantly conceded on the injury front, "You don't complain. We will cope with the players we have. It is as simple as that."
