Notts hunting for second away win of the year

Notts County have been extremely poor on the road in recent times and are without an away win in nearly seven months.

Last win: Danny Crow secured Notts' last away win, scoring the only goal in a win over Chester City...
The last time Notts claimed three points away from Meadow Lane was all the way back on February 16, beating Chester City 1-0.

On no other occasion have County managed to repeat this feat in 2008, claiming just two away victories throughout the entirety of the season.

Fittingly, Notts grabbed the first of these wins at the Fraser Eagle Stadium, defeating Accrington with help of goals from Craig Lindfield and Lawrie Dudfield.

This was part of a double over Stanley, as the Magpies also overcame them 1-0 at home later in the season.

Notts have a fantastic record against Accrington, recording four wins and one draw in the six meetings between the sides over the years.

The only defeat came way back in 1958, with Stanley thumping the visiting County convincingly in a 3-0 score-line.

Despite losing their last three matches, the home side sit comfortably in 12th place on six points, after managing to brush aside both Port Vale and Macclesfield.

Accrington have made steady progress over the past few years, gaining promotion to League Two in 2006, followed by 20th and 17th placements.

This year they will be looking to improve again, and are well on their way to achieving this by starting the season quite brightly.

last decade, Ian McParland will definitely fancy his side's chances of gaining that crucial first win of the season.

It looks as though there are some positive omens in place for County to do so when looking at previous encounters, but they mean nothing at 3 o'clock on Saturday.

However, it might be worth mentioning that it was the sixth game of the campaign last year that Notts recorded their first win, defeating Dagenham and Redbridge 1-0 on home soil.
