Notts County have been drawn away at Coventry City in the first round of the Carling Cup.

The draw was made this morning and Notts will travel to the Ricoh Arena in the week beginning Monday August 13th.

The seeded system which is now in its third season has saw Notts face two tricky away games in the first round of the past two seasons.

Under Gudjon Thordarson in the 2005/06 campaign Notts were drawn at Watford in the season Aidy Boothroyd's men reached the Premiership.

A Chris Palmer consolation was the only joy for Notts in a 3-1 defeat.

Last season saw Notts' most exciting time come in the Carling Cup.

Crystal Palace were surprisingly dispatched in round one with Lawrie Dudfield cancelling out Michael Hughes' goal before Dan Martin fired a late winner.

Another tough draw came at Middlesbrough but in one of the shocks of the competition Tcham N'Toya netted the games only goal in a memorable Notts win.

Southampton were dispatched in round three before fellow League Two outfit disappointed Notts beating them 1-0 at Meadow Lsne in the round before the Quarter-finals.

Wycome went on to play eventual winners Chelsea in the semi-finals.
