Notts County v Luton Town match ratings

Kevin Pilkington 6 - Of all the people to blame for last night, Pilkington is low down the list. He had no chance with eather of the goals and had to make a couple of smart saves from other Luton chances, however his kicking was suspect all night.

Phil Picken 6 - A solid game at right back for the Chesterfield loanee, which is becoming par for the course for his Notts career. He won some key headers at the far post and was the most assured of the back four whilst in possession, linking up well with Matt Hamshaw.

Adam Tann 3 - An awful night for the former Leyton Orient man, as he conceded a penalty and never looked comfortable at centre back. He was beaten to the ball on numerous occasions by Martin and Craddock, and often gifted away possession with some awful distribution. His poor performance was capped off by a rash challenge to concede a penalty for Luton's second goal.

Stephen Hunt
Stephen Hunt 4 -
A return to centre back for Hunt after playing at full back in the defeat at Shrewsbury, but Hunt was unable to fit smoothly back into the centre. Some good challengers were tarnished by him constantly losing out and being skinned by Luton's lively front two, and his terrible use of the ball.

Jamie Clapham 4 - Possibly the ex-Birmingham City left back's worst game in a Notts shirt, as he contributed very little going forward and was uncharacteristically wasteful in possession. He was also beaten a couple of times by Luton's right winger, and i is a showing that the experienced full back is likely to want to forget.

Matt Hamshaw
Matt Hamshaw 7 - *STAR MAN* -
Possibly the only Notts player to come out of the night with any real credit, on his first start since returning from a hamstring injury. He tirelessly worked down the right flank and was at the heart of anything good that Notts did, creating all of the few chances the Magpies carved out on the night.

John Thompson 4 - Another player who had possibly his worst game in the black and white, Thompson was wasteful with the ball and failed to show the gritty determination we have come to expect, losing out to Luton's midfield time and time again in the tackle.

Richard Butcher 4 - A poor performance from the returning Butcher, as he was largely anonymous during the match. In fact, the only real moment of note the often lively Butcher had was when missing the best chance of the game, inexplicably diverting a Delroy Facey knock down wide when faced with an open goal. Otherwise he showed very little in a midfield which was completely overrun.

Myles Weston 5 - The lively winger worked hard to try and make openings for Notts, but was often thwarted by an impressive Luton right back. However, he did get through on a couple of occasions to put dangerous crosses into the box, but unfortunately no Notts player was on hand to turn them home.

Delroy Facey 5 - Not the target man's best performance, however he coud point to a lack of service as a reason for that, he was rarely given the kind of balls he wants and had to work hard to gain possession and was thwarted by a lack of options and movement when he had the ball.

Jonathan Forte 5 - Like Facey, Forte had to work hard to see anything of the ball and nearly created two excellent openings completely by himself but was on both occasions denied by last ditch tackles. Otherwise he was given very little service and at times cut a very frustrated figure leading the line for the Magpies.
