Notts County v Dagenham & Redbridge Match Ratings

Last updated : 17 September 2007 By Dane Vincent

Kevin Pilkington - The Notts' goalkeeper was rarely called upon but looked assured when required - commanding his area well. 7

Lee Canoville - Shaky at times, but put in some important blocks. His delivery from the right wing helped to create The Magpies winning goal. 5

Adam Tann
-Appeared lightweight at times - being out-muscled on a couple of occasions by the Dagenham strikers. Not a bad performance, but looks un-natural at centre-back. 6

Mayo...Again on form

Stephen Hunt
- Never really looked troubled and dealt with the Dagenham front pairing well. 6

*Paul Mayo* (Star Man)
- The consistent full-back put in another solid display at the back. He perhaps opted for the long ball too frequently, but his defensive work was top notch. 7

Jay Smith
- Not one of Smith's finest games in the black and white, but looked to open up the defence when he could. The midfield was often bypassed, meaning that his contribution was limited. 5

Matthew Somner
- Energetic as usual, putting in some fine challenges at important moments. In and around Notts' penalty area, he was a huge asset defensively. 6

Richard Butcher
- Faded in and out of the game after a bright start. When involved, the ex-Peterborough man looked a threat, getting the ball down at every opportunity. 6

Lawrie Dudfield
- Looked dangerous when the ball was at his feet -

Weir-Daley...Dangerous
unfortunately, this was too infrequent. Wasteful at times, but if used correctly, he could prove to be a greater threat. 6

Jason Lee
- His aerial dominance was crucial to the tactics - unfortunately most of his headers ended up in the goalkeeper's possession. He held the ball up quite well, when given the opportunity to do so. 7

Spencer Weir-Daley -
A real danger at times, when the ball was at his feet. Should have scored early in the second half, but was unlucky to hit the post. He did make amends by nodding down to Mackenzie to set up the goal. 7

Subs:

Neil Mackenzie
- Immediately made an impact with an array of passing and managed to grab the winning goal with a cracking right-footed drive. He must start in The Magpies' next fixture. 7

Gary Silk - Played a part in the goal and worked hard in the middle of the park. 6

Hector Sam -
Not on the pitch long enough to make an impact. N/A
