Notts board urge takeover thumbs up

Three of the most influential men at Meadow Lane have all urged the supporters' trust and it's members to back the proposed Middle Eastern takeover bid when it goes to a members' ballot in the upcoming weeks. The takeover has been approved by the club board, and now shareholders Roy Parker, Peter Joyce and John Mounteney have all leant their support to the bid, leaving just 60.16% majority shareholder, the Supporters Trust, and Football League approval.

The two questions which will be put to ballot have also been revealed by the chairman, which are whether they agree to gift their shareholding to Munti Finance Ltd., and whether they agree to write off any loans the Trust have made to the club. The wording of the first question may be a sticking point, with the Trust believed to still owe the estate of the late Haydn Green a sum in the region of £150,000, which was loaned to the Trust to allow them to purchase a majority shareholding. It would surely only be right to ensure this money gets paid back to a man who was so important in securing the future of this football club?

However, NCM still expects the trust vote to go the way of the takeover, particularly if further information is distributed with ballot forms to allow members to make their decisions. Chairman John Armstrong-Holmes has urged members to back the takeover, telling the official site:-

"Let's be honest, none of us thought this day would ever arrive. It's the opportunity for which Notts County supporters have waited all of our lives, and with the agreement of Trust members the takeover can be completed by the end of this month - certainly well before the start of next season.

"It is the recommendation of the Club and Trust Boards that the proposal should be accepted and I hope all Trust members will vote in favour."

Meanwhile, Glenn Rolley and John Mounteney have also given their support to the takeover bid, meaning all the main names in the Notts county boardroom are now behind the proposal.

NCM will have all the takeover news over the coming weeks..
