Notts aim to remain undefeated in the Kop

Last updated : 15 August 2008 By Dane Vincent

In competitive games, Notts are still undefeated at home since fans returned to the Kop and hopefully this record will continue past Saturday.

County fans were crammed into the Kop for the penultimate home game of the season against Accrington, and again for the crucial match against Wycombe Wanderers.

Spurred on by the blossoming atmosphere, the Magpies went on to win both of these with improved performances.

In fact, Notts have not lost at home since March, when
Lincoln City came away with a 1-0 win.

Since then the Magpies have notched up four wins and one draw in the last five games at Meadow Lane, conceding none.

Notts will be looking to extend this run and continue their efforts of turning Meadow Lane into a fortress.

Expect the Kop to be in good voice with a larger crowd expected following the cup win over Doncaster Rovers.

For the first time in a while, there is a sense of expectation amongst fans and a feeling that the club is on the verge of turning its fortunes around.

Starter?: Tann will be hoping to keep his place...
Team news:

Notts County are expected to revert back to a 4-4-2 formation, with Matthew Hamshaw and Myles Weston returning to the starting line-up.

Russell Hoult is set to take a seat on the bench again tomorrow, with Kevin Pilkington starting between the sticks.

After being rested for the midweek cup upset, Jamie Forrester will return to action. He is likely to be partnered by Delroy Facey who is still trying to catch up in terms of match fitness.

At the heart of defence, Adam Tann will be hoping to start ahead of Michael Johnson, after being part of a side that kept a clean sheet against
Doncaster.

Gavin Strachan (hamstring) and Stephen Hunt (groin) are still out with long standing injuries.

Darlington will be without powerful striker Pawel Abbott with an Achilles injury. Dave Penney revealed that he is "nowhere near fit".

Also set to miss out is midfielder Robin Hulbert who picked up a knock against
Walsall. He is likely to be replaced by Ricky Ravenhill.

In defence, Clayton Fortune is a doubt for the Quakers with a shoulder injury, and former Notts centre-back Alan White is expected to be recalled after being rested for the Carling Cup victory on Tuesday.

Ones to watch:

Myles Weston will be under pressure to perform after a storming start to the season.

Both Bradford and Doncaster felt the force of the ex-Charlton Athletic starlet, where he was a constant threat down the left flank with his pace.

Darlington will be well aware of the danger he will cause, so may double up on Weston in an attempt to keep him at bay.

Billy Clarke will be on a high after grabbing the winning goal against Walsall

Physical: White will have a tough battle with Delroy Facey...
in the Carling Cup.

He will be looking to get on the score-sheet for the second time in a week for his new side, where he is on loan from Ipswich.

The young Irishman has looked dangerous in his first two games for the Quakers and the Notts back four will have to keep a close eye on him.

Key battle:

Fans can expect a physical battle between Alan White in the Darlington defence and Delroy Facey who will be up-front for County.

White had a tough time at Notts and will be looking to prove the Magpies faithful wrong by overcoming his beefy opponent.

Facey will be looking to unsettle the visitors' defence to create openings for his strike partner, Jamie Forrester, by getting himself in the thick of the action.

Odds:

The bookies are expecting a close game tomorrow, with Notts being offered at 6/4 to win by Ladbrokes, whereas Darlington have been issued odds of 7/5. A draw - which may prove a popular bet - is set at 9/4.

With both sides on a high after mid-week games, this is guaranteed to be an interesting affair.
