Having started the season with League One side Tranmere, Summerbee moved to Conference outfit Tamworth in January before being released just four games after signing.

Notts' interest in the player was revealed in an interview with Tamworth boss Mark Cooper before NCM finally brought the news to the club's supporters yesterday. Twenty-four hours later and the club moved to deny hopes of a move for the experienced midfielder, 34.

The club also revealed that Summerbee turned out in a friendly with one of his former sides, Nottingham Forest yesterday.

Assistant manager, Ross MacLaren, however, insists that any interest in the player has now ended, swearing that they will not be following up their initial interest in the player.

"We took a look at Nicky yesterday in the game, but we've had a think about things and we won't be taking our interest any further in the player," said MacLaren, speaking to the club's Official site earlier today.
