Nottingham Rugby to leave Meadow Lane?

It seems that Nottingham Rugby Club have been told they are no longer welcome at Meadow Lane, despite having a contract left to play their games at Meadow Lane for a further year. However, it is believed that Notts County have reviewed the contract and have found a loophole meaning that they can get out of the deal and leave the Green and Whites homeless.

The rugby club have been paying matches at Meadow Lane for two years after a deal was agreed in 2006, however rumours were rife during the season that they had been unable to pay the full amount of rent due to the serious financial issues at the club. There have also been grumbles Ian McParland and supporters about the state of the pitch in the winter months, which is being blamed on the rugby.

Rugby club chairman Geoff Huckstep was defiant however, stating that:-

"As far as we are concerned, we have a contract to use Meadow Lane next season
but Notts County apparently view things differently."

He has also said that if the club are forced out of Meadow Lane it could mean the club cease to exist.
