No Room For Negativity

Despite slipping to second from the bottom of the Division Two table over the weekend Mills remains confident, even after watching Notts loose two points in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with locals Chesterfield after an Ian Richardson own goal (Third of the season!) cancelled out an earlier header by fellow defender Nick Fenton which put Notts in the lead.

With Notts currently sitting 3 points away from safety, one would think that the outcome was doomed but Mills won’t allow such things to be said or even thought of, by players and fans alike.

“I am fed up with people saying it is all decided and that we are relegated.

Look at the table, there are still only three points in it and there are 24 points still to play for.

So, unless my maths are really out, we are a long way from being relegated yet and I am not going to tolerate anyone telling me we are doomed.” Mills told the Nottingham Evening Post earlier today.

He was quite particular with his words when talking about not tolerating negative thoughts on the training pitch and also on the field and said: “When the players come back for training I want to see people with their heads up.”

He doesn’t want any player who is negative and thinks the club is beyond pulling out of safety and has said:

“If anyone wants to be down about it, they can go. I don't want them around.

They will not be playing against Tranmere on Saturday and they won't be at the club for long, because I only want people here who share my confidence and belief.”

Mills ended with the chosen words: “We will stay up, I am telling you that now.”

Let's hope the man that's restored so much optimism at Meadow Lane of late is right.
