When it was announced that Steve Thompson was to become the next Notts County manager, a huge task lay in store for the former Lincoln City boss.

With David Pipe, Kevin Pilkington and Mike Edwards the only senior professionals on the books, together with a handful of yougsters, Thompson had a mammoth task to create a match-winning squad.

He immediately set about bringing in numerous 'League 2' personnel in, alongside many potential young stars.

With the defence so far the most impressive feature of Notts' play this season, captain Alan White, and full-backs Dan Gleeson and Austin McCann, have all heralded rave reviews.

However, despite Andy Parkinson having yet to hit the ground running, he was a fantastic coup for Thompson, and is sure to be amongst the favourites with fans.

With Junior Mendes impressing in attack, and Jason Lee belying his years, there has been plenty of potential shown by Thompsons buys.
Matt Somner, Ian Ross, Tom Curtis and Gary Silk are also available to vote for, as are strike duo Lawrie Dudfield and Tcham N'Toya.

The returning Saul Deeney was seen as the right move by Thompson, given Deeneys status as a former fans favourite, meaning he may be in the running for best Thommo signing.
