New boy number three

You have to give Mills credit. In just eight months here, the former Tamworth boss has never been one to rest on his laurels and, after seeing his under-performing squad down to the bare bones, the County boss has somehow managed to bring in three players on a shoe-string budget.

The new boy
The latest addition is 24-year-old striker Marvin Robinson. The big striker, who is likely to fill the 'targetman' role Gavin Gordon has so far struggled with, has already played for five clubs in his short career, including Derby, Tranmere and, most recently, Chesterfield.

Despite scoring six goals in 20 starts for Chesterfield last season, the Spireites opted to release Robinson, and the hitman has been clubless since.

He was given an extended trial at local neighbours Mansfield this summer, but Stags boss Keith Curle opted to release Robinson without handing him a contract.

The striker will have to curb his temper, however, after picking up 8 bookings last season alone.

It is believed he will soon sign a one-month deal with the Magpies and should bolster Mills' striking options ahead of Saturday's crucial trip to Northampton Town.

NCM will bring you the news when Robinson, and fellow new-boy Craig Pead, officialy put pen-to-paper.
