New boy Davies looking for promotion

After signing a three-year deal at Meadow Lane today, Notts County's newest recruit, midfielder Ben Davies, has predicted exciting times ahead for the Magpies. Davies rejected a new deal at Shrewsbury Town, as well as "seven or eight" offers from clubs in League One and the Championship to join Ian McParland's side, and has said that he is aiming for promotion at the first attempt following two play-off final heartbreaks in three years at Shrewsbury.Ben Davies

Davies has become the Magpies' sixth summer signing, following Ricky Ravenhill, Neal Bishop, Craig Westcarr, Graeme Lee and Brendan Moloney into the club, and will start pre-season training with his new teammates tomorrow, after meeting them this afternoon. He was one of two players Ian McParland met last week, along with Graeme Lee, and it is certainly a sign of the club's intent following the takeover that they have managed to land both so quickly.

Ben Davies told nottscountyfc.co.uk:-

"I would not be sat here doing this interview if I wasn't impressed with the ambition and plans I've heard about Notts County.
I've come here to get promoted and from last year's finish it is obvious the Manager wants a big improvement in order to do that.

Speaking to other people there is a buzz about this place and it is the most exciting time at Notts County for years.  came down and spoke to the Manager and the incoming Chairman and their plans were to move the club forwards and I wanted to part of it. I kept in touch after our meeting and the way they sold the club was very impressive.

It was a hard decision because I've had seven or eight clubs to choose from, but I'm pleased I've made this decision."
