NCM team of the weekend

Last updated : 03 March 2008 By Gary Moss
Goalkeeper -
Willy Gueret, MK Dons. Gueret has been the stand out keeper in League Two this season, They say that a good custodian can earn you between 10 and 15 points per season and the Dons stopper is certainly living up to that expectation. He can be thanked again this weekend as he helped the table toppers to their first home win of the season. He saved a spot kick as MK beat Chester City 1-0 - the final nail in the coffin of sacked Bobby Williamson.

Defender -
Phil Picken, Chesterfield. The former Manchester United man has really impressed in his first season with the Spireites. The athletic full-back, a product of the Old Trafford youth set up, has built a reputation as one of the best all round full-backs in the division. Another up and down display here helped in a vital 1-0 win at play-off rivals Rochdale.

Defender -
Nick Fenton, Grimsby Town. The towering centre-back pulled in another commanding performance as Grimsby continued their transformed spell. The 28-year-old was fantastic in the air yet again as Town marked their third straight clean sheet in all competitions.

Defender -
Richard Hope, Wrexham. A commanding display from the no nonsense centre-back. The Red Dragons could not afford to lose this relegation six pointer at home to Mansfield, and Hope led the way in a sterdy showing at the back for the Welshmen. A free transfer from Shrewsbury Town in the summer, he could be vital if they are to survive this term.

Defender -
Claude Gnakpa, Peterborough United. The French defender was a tower of strength for Peterboorugh as they extended their unbeaten run to nine in pursuit of snatching the league title from MK Dons. His ability to play at the back or sit in front of the back four make him a vital piece in the Posh jigsaw. A splendid outing in a 1-0 win over Bury.

Midfielder -
Nathan D'Laryea, Mansfield Town. You need fighters when you are down at the bottom and D'Laryea certainly proved he is one of those with his performance at the Racecourse Ground. A spirited display coupled with dashes of class earned him the Stags man-of-the-match award on their travels.

Midfielder -
Izak Reid, Macclesfield Town. Reid marled Keith Alexander's first game in charge at Moss Rose with another point in their battle against relegation. A menace inthe box as he found space to fire the Silkmen ahead against Notts County.

Midfielder -
Albert Adomah, Barnet. Adomah has fast become a fans favourite at Underhill and it is no real surprise with all action displays like this. Scorer of two and the provider of another, the youngster who can play either on the wing or up front looks a tidy investment from Harrow Borough. Pace and end product in a stunning display against Shrewsbury.

Midfielder -
Peter Bore, Grimsby Town. Bore marked a return to the Grimsby side in explosive fashion. In his first start of the now eight month old season he netted twice as Town ran riot, 4-0 at Morecambe. With a potential Johnstone's Paint Trophy final on the horizon for Alan Buckley's side, it is not a bad time to make your mark.

Striker -
Julian Joachim, Darlington. Joachim has been one of the classiest customers in the league this season and another lively showing capped off with a goal inspired the Quakers to a 3-1 win over Brentford. The veteran has scored goals at every level but his ability to offer that little bit extra could be the difference as Darlo go in pursuit of the League Two crown.

Striker -
Liam Dickinson, Stockport County. A masterclass performance from the Hatters top scorer at Hereford. Dickinson scored the only goal of the game, from the penalty spot, of which he won himself to fasten County's hold on seventh place. He led the line well at Edgar Street and held the ball up a treat in a successful afternoon as Stockport made it seven wins in seven on the road.
