The Latics walked away with the Division Two Championship, taking six points off Notts in the process, and received 56% of the votes.

Notts were defeated 2-0 at home by Paul Jewell's men on August 24th, and that was followed up by a 3-1 loss at The JJB Stadium on New Years Day 2003.

Plymouth and Oldham finished in joint second place with 8.8% of the votes, Plymouth beat Notts home and away during the season, while Oldham beat Notts at Meadow Lane and both sides shared the spoils in the return match at Boundary Park, while Oldham also knocked Notts out of the League Cup.

Next in the poll was Mansfield with 6.6%, then Cardiff and Tranmere both with 5.5% and then finally QPR and Bristol City both with 4.4% of the votes.
