32 year old Murray was released by Kettering following their relegation from the Nationwide Conference, and the talented midfield has wasted no time in finding a new club.

"I wanted to add some steel to the middle of the park – and he is the player who can do that." Said a delighted Dean Thomas after snapping up the midfielder.

Murray joined The Magpies in June 1998 on a free transfer from Bradford City, with Sam Allardyce desparate to secure the signing of the midfielder, and was delighted when securing his signing on a three year deal.

He was a regular in his first season with Notts, scoring some vital goals including the winner over eventual champions Fulham and a cracker against Sheffield United in the FA Cup.

His second season saw his struggle with injury problems with Gary Brazil in charge, and in his final season (2000-2001) he rarely featured for Jocky Scott's side before being loaned out to Kettering, where he moved permanently following his release from Meadow Lane.

He made 56 starts and and 13 sub appearances in all for Notts, scoring 4 goals.
