Murphy to take a mocking

When people spring the words up "Colin Murphy", it usually gets one to think especially if you're a Notts County supporter.

Murphy in his Notts days
Colin Murphy was described by many as "the laughing stock of the town". Colin sold our best players and replaced them with, well, 'not as good players'. The likes of McSwegan, Paul Devlin and the superb throw of Andy legg were not to be seen again after Murphy sold them all, some would say for hardly anything.

Then Murphy got Notts to the play off final, but then again fans would comment about his poor tactics and in the play off final we were beaten by Bradford. Most fans said that "Murphy didn't play a full strengthed side".

The next season, Notts felt the effects of a 'play off runner's up' hangover. And it cost Notts. It cost Murphy his job aswell. That season Notts were bottom under his Managerment and in September 1996 Murphy was shown the door by Derek Pavis.

Notts were glad to see the back of him, but it didn't save them from the drop. The tides had turned however as arguably one of Notts' best ever Manager's Sam Allardyce took over and ofcourse you know what happened from there.

Murphy is the new Director of football at Stockport after being with Scarborough a few seasons ago as Manager.

But tommorow, I am sure Colin Murphy will hear and feel the chants of the Notts County fans that travel to Edgehill Park. Some of the chants I am sure will be about him. I leave it to your own imaginations of what the Notts fans will chant!
