More pre-season friendlies announced

The Magpies will travel to the curiously-named home of Doncaster Rovers – formerly Belle Vue – in late July to begin to conclude the club’s close season arrangements.

The match will be played on Friday 22 July, with a 19:45 kick off.

Fenton: Gary who, sorry?
The match will pit Notts against former Magpies defender Nicky Fenton, a firm fans-favourite throughout his Magpies tenure. The Preston-born defender – who cost the Magpies £150,000 when he signed from the Manchester club – joined former boss Gary Brazil at the Earth Stadium last summer after their respective departures from the ‘Lane within weeks of each other.

Those expected to be returning during the close season, of course, include the long-term injury victims within the club – notably the likes of Mike Edwards and Ian Richardson – who should continue their fight for fitness over the summer months, in time for the turn of the new season.

The announcement comes weeks after the news that Championship side, Leicester City will visit the ‘Lane on Monday July 25th to round-off the Magpies’ close season campaign in style.

This match is, also, arranged as a 19:45 kick-off.
