More casualties added to the list

Out again: Strachan has spent most of his Notts career on the sidelines.
Gavin Strachan will find out whether he is set for another lengthy stint on the injury table later this week.

The injury ravaged midfielder has undergone an MRI scan on his hamstring to see what caused him to sit out of last night's 2-2 draw away at Gillingham.

Results of the scan should arrive before the weekend, determining how long he will be out for.

He is not expected to make the trip to Saltergate with the rest of the squad.

Paul Mayo was also added to the casualty list when he was withdrawn from action at the Priestfield Stadium because of an illness.

Hopefully he will be ready for the weekend because the Magpies already face a defensive crisis, with just three fit defenders remaining.

Stephen Hunt, Adam Tann, Jason Beardsley and Michael Johnson all missed the Gills clash.

Johnson, however, could return to action against Chesterfield at the weekend, meaning that Jay Smith may not have to be used as a makeshift right-back for the second game running.
